IUBPC Python Workshop 2027

Code of Conduct

The IUB Programming Club is committed to providing a friendly, safe, and welcoming environment for everyone. This Code of Conduct applies to all participants, mentors, organizers, volunteers, and guests of the Python for Data Science: A Free Two-Day Hands-On Workshop (Thursday 18 & Saturday 20 March 2027) — at the venue and in every online space connected to the event, including our Discord server and social media channels.

This Code of Conduct is based on the Python Software Foundation Code of Conduct.

Expected behavior

  • Be open. Welcome questions at every level — this is a beginners' event, and no question is too basic.
  • Be considerate. Respect other participants' time, machines, and pace of learning.
  • Be respectful. Disagreement is fine; disrespect is not. Give and accept constructive feedback gracefully.

Unacceptable behavior

The following will not be tolerated in any event space:

  • Harassment or intimidation in any form, in person or online.
  • Discriminatory or demeaning jokes and language relating to gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, race, religion, or ethnicity.
  • Unwelcome sexual attention, imagery, or advances.
  • Sustained disruption of sessions, or photographing/recording others without their consent.
  • Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above.

Consequences

Participants asked to stop any unacceptable behavior are expected to comply immediately. Depending on severity, organizers may issue a warning, remove the person from the session or the event, and — for serious violations — exclude them from future IUBPC activities. Decisions are made by the organizing team together with the Faculty Advisor.

Reporting a concern

If you experience or witness a violation of this Code of Conduct — or have any concern about safety or conduct — please report it. All reports are handled confidentially and acknowledged within 24 hours.

  • Email: programming.club@iub.edu.bd with the subject line “Code of Conduct Report”.
  • In person: speak to any organizer wearing an organizer badge at the venue.

Reports are received and handled by Asif Mahmood, PhD (Faculty Advisor), including any report involving members of the organizing team.
